CLOUD MIGRATIONS

Cloud migration is the process of moving data, applications or other business elements to a cloud computing environment. There are various types of cloud migrations an enterprise can perform. One common model is the transfer of data and applications from a local, on-premises data center to the public cloud.

CLOUD MIGRATIONS

Cloud Migration Descriptions

Cloud Migration Types:  The most important part of any cloud migration is making sure the migration gets your customers where they need to be. The four types of cloud migration are called lift and shift, shift to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), application refactoring, and re-platforming.

  1. Lift and Shift migration approach is about migrating your application and associated data to the cloud with minimal or no changes. Applications are effectively “lifted” from the existing environments and “shifted” as-is to a new hosting premises; i.e. in the cloud.
  2. Shift to SaaS is a cloud migration model to consider when you want to free your IT team from maintaining applications that are not customer-facing.
  3. Refactoring is the process of running your applications on the infrastructure of your cloud provider, that is, you will need to completely re-architecture your applications to better suit the new cloud environment.
  4. Replatforming involves upgrading an application from its existing platform and adhering to the minimum possible Twelve factors to get it to run on the cloud, while preserving existing functionality.

Cloud Migration Service:  Is an undertaken to transfer data in various forms from one location to another. Typically, this involves migration of all customer data (email, applications, file server and other data) from existing onsite servers or other hosted environment over to our data centers. Our migration service allows customers to make a seamless move of their current hosting infrastructure to our global network. Or customers can upgrade their existing server from shared hosting to a dedicated server. Our team makes it trouble-free, and when they host with us, domain registration is free.

Customer Benefits

Cloud solutions provide significant benefits to companies of all sizes, but a recent study shows that less than 10 percent of organizations believe their existing IT infrastructure is fully prepared to address the proliferation of cloud computing, mobile devices, social media and data analytics. In the past, responsibility was with the IT department. Now business decision makers feel the cloud is critical to their businesses’ success for several reasons. Here are five reasons:

  1. Cloud offers better insight. In a world awash in structured and, increasingly, unstructured data, 54% of leading organizations are using analytics to derive insights from big data, which helps them target customers and product opportunities more effectively.
  2. Cloud helps collaboration. Cloud allows work to be accessed from multiple devices and from anywhere, which in turns makes it much easier for teams to collaborate on shared data.
  3. Cloud drives better engagement. As the focus of business decision makers shift from cost efficiencies in their back-office systems to improvements in their systems of engagement, cloud is often seen as the most effective means of forging a tighter link with the customer.
  4. Speed! Fifty-two percent of leading organizations are turning to the cloud to drive more rapid innovation in products and services. For example, Kuma Games is a leading developer of episodic video games, serving up immersive 3-D experiences — with narratives ripped from news headlines and cable TV — to millions of users each week. Since 2007, Kuma has worked to achieve the flexibility, reliability and scalability required for such immersive and dynamic gaming. A cloud solution helps Kuma Games offer a consistent high-performance, graphically attractive and seamless experience to gamers all over the world, no matter how many users are playing simultaneously.
  5. Cloud benefits are measurable and pay for themselves. From efficiency gains to improved employee mobility, leading organizations can measure significant benefits from their cloud investments, but equally importantly, can pace their investments so they avoid big up-front capital expenses and pay monthly as their business scales.
